Indigent Services

Washington County Indigent Services was created to administer assistance to Washington County residents for payment of medical and non-medical expenses as mandated by Idaho Code Title 31, Chapters 34 and 35.

Assistance from Washington County is provided by taxpayer funds and is to be “a last resort.” Under Idaho law, an automatic lien is created on all real and personal property of those who file an application for county medical assistance.

Application Process

Upon receipt of a combined application for medical assistance, the Applicant must complete an interview and provide personal and financial information and any other documentation relating to residency and resources. 

Washington County will conduct an investigation of the application to present to the Board of Washington County Commissioners to make a decision. 

Reimbursement

Any assistance approved by Washington County is required to be reimbursed. All approvals will include a Reimbursement Agreement.
